JAKI is back with a new feature! Called Public Transport, this new feature suits those of you who usually take public transportation in Jakarta. Public Transport can show you routes, fares, and schedules of three modes of transportation in Jakarta: Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), and Transjakarta (BRT). How to use it? Let’s read more to find out.

Why We Need Public Transport

Public Transport was first released in mid-August 2022. This feature was created to help residents whenever they want to use public transportation in Jakarta. Imagine, you have to reach a destination using more than one mode of transportation. If you don't know the route or schedule for each mode of transportation, now you can directly check the information in only one application, JAKI. In a way, the presence of Public Transport also acts as a campaign to promote the use of public transportation as part of implementing smart cities.

In its development process, the Public Transport feature involves cooperation from various parties, such as Jakarta Smart City as the system developer, PT MRT Jakarta and PT Jakarta Transportation. Therefore, this feature has been integrated with the system of each mode of transportation, so that the information you get are valid, including if there are any changes to routes, schedules, or fares.

How to Use the Public Transport Feature

Before we can maximize the full power of Public Transport, make sure you already have the JAKI app installed on your smartphone. You can download it via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. After JAKI is installed on the smartphone, you can follow these steps.

  1. Open JAKI
  2. Click Public Transport
  3. Choose the public transportation which information you want to access

  1. Done! The page will show the meaning of the transportation as well as operating hours, maximum fares, schedules, routes, or corridors.

Currently, you can already access information about the MRT, LRT via Public Transport. For the TransJakarta option, you can choose the desired bus stop. For example, if you select the Monas bus stop, it will display routes that pass by including corridor 1 (Blok M-Kota) and 6B (Monas-Ragunan via Semanggi) and the estimation of bus arrivals.

And for Transjakarta users, there is another interesting information that you shouldn't miss. Now, Transjakarta is operating through the night! Starting Monday, September 12, 2022, Transjakarta's night transport (AMARI) resumed its services every day in 13 corridors. This means that Transjakarta is serving citizens 24 hours. It is hoped that with this 24-hour service, Jakartans can do their activities more smoothly, especially at night. Just, don’t forget to be careful when you take public transportation at night.

That’s all about the Public Transport feature on JAKI and a brief overview of Transjakarta operating hours. Along with the release of this feature, it is hoped that more citizens will be interested in taking public transportation to support smart mobility. Do you want to know more about JAKI?
