It’s a sunny morning, and now it’s time for you to go to work. Remember to wear a mask before leaving the house. But, on the way, you find a problem or violation that you think must be followed up immediately. It can be in the form of damage to facilities, illegal parking, to violations of health protocols that are being implemented by the Provincial Government of Jakarta to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As a Smartcitizen, when you see a problem like that, don’t keep it in your heart. You can report it with JakLapor feature in JAKI application. However, maybe you are still not sure, because this is your first time reporting on JAKI. You may also ask, what is the correct way to photograph a violation? Let’s find out.

What You Should Pay Attention To Before Taking Photos

The first step, of course, you have to open the JAKI application on your smartphone. Click the camera icon at the bottom center of the menu screen, to access the JakLapor feature to begin your report creation. So, at this point, there are a number of things you need to pay attention to first, such as:

Make Sure the GPS Feature is Active

To receive a fast response to your report, make sure the GPS feature on your device is active. Or, you can also turn on the location marker feature on your camera, so that the location data from the photos you upload can be displayed. It then can be used by officers to find out where problems or violations occur.

Don’t Take Photos While Driving

When you see a violation happening in front of you, don’t be in a hurry to take a photo right away, especially if you are driving. So, before you open the JakLapor feature, first find a safe place to stop. Also, make sure the place you choose is a place where you are allowed to stop your vehicle.

So, remember Smarcitizen, don’t take photos while driving or when you stop in the middle of the road. Because, if you are caught using a smartphone while driving a car or motorcycle, you might be the one who will be reported by other JAKI users.

Not Taking Photos of Personal Data

The photos that you upload on JakLapor will be displayed publicly in the JakRespons report monitoring feature (the name and telephone number of the reporter is still kept secret by JAKI). Therefore, you must also maintain the confidentiality of personal or other people’s data by not taking photos that contain sensitive information, such as National Identity Cards, Passports, or Family Cards.

If there is sensitive data that is accidentally captured in the photo, you can cover up the sensitive information by placing a color block or use the blur feature on your device before uploading it.

How to Take Photo Correctly with JakLapor

If you have understood the tips mentioned above, then the next step is to take photos of the violations that occurred. But remember, Smarcitizen, the way you take photos for reports can’t be done carelessly. Because the photo or image you send will be the main reference for officers, in responding to the problems you report. Therefore, you also need to follow the guidelines or procedures for taking the correct pictures that will support the reports you make in JakLapor.

Focus Photos on Violation

An important step that you must take in making a report at JAKI is to make sure the pictures you take clearly show the violations that are happening. For example, you see someone who is not wearing a mask. So what you need to focus on in your photo is the person who committed the violation. The same principle also applies if, for example, public facilities are damaged. Make sure the items you hope to be repaired are visible in the photos you upload with JakLapor.

Show Nearby Location

When you see a problem that you want to report, don’t forget to also show the place or location around. Even though you may have included the address, you need to do this step so that the officer can identify exactly where the violation occurred. For example, if you want to report illegal parking violations, make sure the photos you take don’t just show the vehicle. Take a little distance, so that the shooting angle can be wider and the surrounding objects or buildings that will be a reference for officers are also visible.

Be Cautious

When you are aiming the camera to take photos of violations, you must not forget about your safety and security. As previously mentioned, you are not allowed to make a report while driving a car or motorcycle. If you are walking, pay attention to your surroundings. Are you standing near the bridge guardrail? Is there road work near you? Things like that will be very useful for you to remember so that when you make your report you don’t endanger yourself or others.

You also need to be careful from a social point of view. Every human’s behavior is different. If you feel uncomfortable taking photos of a person or group of offenders, then you can do it discreetly and from a little further away.

Now, after taking a photo, what you need to do next is to provide an appropriate description and category. Make sure all information is filled in completely and correctly before you press the send button. The report that you create will help the provincial government in maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of our city. In addition, in the midst of a pandemic like this, community discipline is also needed so that a healthy future for Jakarta can be achieved soon. Because if not us, who will?
