It’s been two years since Lebaran homecoming, a tradition locally known as ‘mudik’, has not been allowed because the Covid-19 pandemic situation is still worrying. For people who migrate to Jakarta for work, the longing for their hometown must have been piling up for a long time. However, the good news is that the pandemic situation is getting better, thanks to already high vaccination rates and declining cases. Therefore, during the 2022 Eid holiday, the government has allowed residents to go to their hometowns. That’s good news, isn’t it?

Even so, to keep you and those closest to you safe during mudik, there are several travel rules or conditions that you must pay attention to and obey.

Travel Rules for Eid Holiday

Lebaran is just around the corner, you may be part of the residents who are getting ready to return to their hometown. Well, in addition to preparing various items for the holidays, make sure you also prepare the requirements for going home for Eid in 2022 which are regulated in Circular (SE) of the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Number 16 of 2022 concerning Provisions for Travel of Domestic Persons during a Pandemic Period. This regulation applies to those of you who are Domestic Travel Actors (PPDN) on all modes of transportation, both private and public vehicles.

The conditions that apply are:

  • Persons who had received their booster vaccine are no longer required to show a negative result of the RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test.
  • Persons who had just received the primary vaccine course (two doses) are required to show a negative rapid antigen test result taken within 1x24 hours or a negative RT-PCR result taken 3x24 hours before departure.
  • Persons who had just received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine or are unable to vaccinate at all due to special health conditions, are required to show a negative result of the RT-PCR test taken within 3x24 hours before departure.

In addition, persons who are unable to be vaccinated due to special health conditions, are required to attach a doctor’s certificate from a government hospital stating that he/she has not and/or cannot take the Covid-19 vaccines.

  • Children under the age of 6 are allowed to go on the trip without having to vaccinate or show the results of an antigen or PCR test as long as their travel companion has met the conditions said above.
  • Children aged 6–17, only need to show a certificate of first and second dose of vaccines and do not need to do an antigen or PCR test.

PPKM During Eid Holiday

Because the Covid-19 pandemic is still not over, the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) is still in effect. PPKM that applies in Jakarta at the end of April 2022 until May 9, 2022 is PPKM level 2 based on Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 371 of 2022.

At PPKM level 2, transportation can operate with a maximum capacity of 100% for public transportation, mass transportation, taxis (conventional and online), and motorcycle taxis (conventional and online). Then, shopping centers/malls/trade centers can operate with a capacity of 75% until 22.00 WIB.

For those of you who want to spend time off in tourist attractions, parks, cultural arts locations and other public places, these places are allowed to open with a capacity of 75%. Likewise, restaurants and cafes are also allowed to open with a capacity of 75% until 22.00. Meanwhile, restaurants and cafes that are open from the evening, can serve dine-in from 18.00 to 00.00, with a capacity of 50%.

Take Care of Yourself on This Long Holidays

Even though PPKM is getting relaxed and going on a trip is allowed, you still have to take care of yourself and your loved ones. Don’t forget to adhere to strict health protocols and keep your body healthy by getting enough rest and eating nutritious foods.

For those of you who want to go on a trip, but still haven’t vaccinated, you can still register for vaccination. You can get vaccinations in Jakarta easily and for free by registering through JAKI.

Have a comfortable and safe trip!
