JAKI has been present for Jakarta citizens for around two years. Since its inception, many features have been launched, aimed to help meet the daily needs of Jakarta citizens and integrate all public services into one platform.

Why was JAKI Invented?

The presence of JAKI (Jakarta Kini) is a response from the Jakarta Provincial Government regarding massive technological developments. The application serves to provide the best service for Jakarta citizens through one-stop service. In order to become a one-stop service application, JAKI needs to be integrated with all Jakarta Provincial Government agencies. Currently, JAKI is still going on to expand its services. It’s hoped that more regional organizations (OPD) will be able to be integrated into JAKI.

JAKI also functions as a public complaint channel through JakLapor feature. This feature serves as a connector between citizens and the government. When there are complaints from citizens, the relevant government unit will be responsible to solve the problems. More than that, you can also trust JAKI as an official source of information and news about Jakarta. In JAKI, the government units have their own profiles, so they can disseminate their official statements or releases through JAKI. Say bye to hoaxes, because Jakarta has official and reliable information channels that you can access at your fingertips.

JAKI’s Roles During the Pandemic

By now, you must be familiar with the ‘Pendaftaran Vaksinasi Covid-19’ feature at JAKI. Prior to that, there’s JakCLM, a machine learning based self-screening feature, which is used to calculate your risk of Covid-19. Then, there’s JakLapor, a feature that functions as a public complaints channel. During the activity restriction, the feature has helped many people to report activity restriction violations. Which one have you tried, Smartcitizen? We hope that these existing innovations can curb the spread of Covid-19 in Jakarta.

JAKI, The Form of Smart City Development

Smart cities incorporate technological innovations to maximize their public services and also help them to make data-based decision making. It’s a crucial step to ensure that every policy issued will be effective and efficient. Many cities in the world, especially those that have developed the concept of smart cities, have used technology to deliver government services through smartphones. Smart application doesn’t only improve government services to the citizens, it also cultivates participation from the citizens for a better city.
