Good news coming this March 2022! Jakartans should be proud because DKI Jakarta has succeeded in getting a nomination at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) award event. The program is a Flood Control System. The program is included in the nomination category AL C7. ICT applications: benefits in all aspects of life E-science.

Flood Control System in Jakarta

The Flood Control System was created due to the difficulty of the DKI Jakarta government in disseminating information about flood points, while officers and stakeholders have difficulty coordinating. The flood control system itself is a system built to predict potential floods and optimize handling when floods occur. This system aims to increase public awareness, accelerate government response, and also real-time flood monitoring by all stakeholders.

With the agility of technology, a system capable of predicting potential disasters and optimizing their handling based on the Internet of Things (IoT) is a must. This system is useful as a support for quick and accurate decisions by policymakers. The flood control system integrates data processing in real-time, the use of an analysis platform, information sharing, and visualization.

Flood Control System in Jakarta uses predictive analysis when the water pump needs to be activated based on 178 sensors and CCTV that have been deployed by the government in Jakarta. The historical data of active pumps are identified from the vibration and temperature sensors in each pump. By utilizing trends and patterns, data from the water level from CCTV and water level from sensors can predict when the pump needs to be activated. The use of this analysis can be active if the implementation of IoT is carried out in DKI Jakarta.
