With the end of coronavirus not yet in sight, the Jakartans still have to remain vigilant. The Government of Jakarta has extended the state of emergency for two weeks until 19 April 2020. This means, the instruction to stay at home remains with the exception of essential activities such as grocery shopping and medical needs. This measure needs to be taken to flattening the curve of COVID-19 transmission, which will allow some breathing rooms for health workers and hospital resources.

Anies Baswedan, Governor of Jakarta, has urged the people of Jakarta to stay at home; this includes working from home. Smartcitizen, if you’re an employee who still has to come for work at your office, you can make use of Jakarta Kini (JAKI) application to help with your situation. With a feature like JakLapor, you can make a report of workplaces that are still not implementing a Work from Home (WFH) policy. Here’s how to do it.

Take photo of your workplace

Choose ‘Hubungan Pekerja-Pengusaha’ (Employee-Employer Relation) as the category

Fill description with name, address, email, and social media of your company

If you think you have filled all the necessary information, you can submit the report.

This report will be followed up by the Manpower and Transmigration Department of Jakarta by giving a letter of reprimand to companies that have not implemented a work from home policy. In addition to the closing of non-essential offices, the government is also temporarily shutting down events that could attract a large number of people.

So, if you still see people gathering in public places (e.g. pop-up market) without any attempt to do physical distancing, you could also make a report through JAKI.
