Remember the New Terms in SPMB

This year, the student admission system in Jakarta has undergone several important changes. One of the key updates is the name change from PPDB (Penerimaan Peserta Didik Baru) to SPMB (Sistem Penerimaan Murid Baru). It translates to the “new student admission system”. In addition to the system’s name, several official terms have also been revised.

Under the 2025 SPMB scheme, the term “peserta didik” has been officially changed to “murid”. Similarly, “calon peserta didik baru” is now referred to as “calon murid baru” (CMB). These changes aim to simplify the language and make the admission process more inclusive and easier for the public to understand.

Entry Schemes in SPMB 2025

SPMB 2025 also introduces adjustments to the naming of its entry schemes as part of an effort to simplify and align the terminology with everyday understanding. 1. Jalur Domisili prioritizes pupils based on their residential address within the school’s designated zone, with improvements made to the address verification process. This scheme was previously known as Jalur Zonasi.

2. Jalur Mutasi covers students whose parents or guardians have been relocated for work, as well as children of teachers who are transferred to related educational institutions. This scheme was formerly called Jalur Perpindahan Orangtua/Wali dan Anak Guru.

3. Jalur Afirmasi is intended for CMBs with disabilities or those from economically disadvantaged families.

4. Jalur Prestasi is available to CMBs who have demonstrated academic or non-academic achievements during their previous education level. This scheme offers opportunities for those who have shown excellence in a particular field.

Mark the Important SPMB 2025 Dates

SPMB 2025 is regulated under Peraturan Menteri Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah Nomor 3 Tahun 2025(ministerial regulation on primary and secondary education No. 3 of 2025), serving as the official legal basis for the student admission process. In Jakarta, the entire SPMB process will run until 10 July 2025, covering all education levels (elementary, junior high, and senior high school) and entry schemes.
