What Death Certificates are For
Going through administrative processes for a death certificate may seem difficult. However, there are several reasons why we should handle it:
- as official proof that someone has passed away.
- used for administrative purposes. For example, if you need to manage inheritance or pension savings, family will use the death certificate of the deceased family member.
- it is regulated in Undang-Undang No. 24 Tahun 2013 pasal 44 ayat 1 tentang Perubahan Atas Undang-Undang No. 23 Tahun 2006 Tentang Administrasi Kependudukan. This regulation states that every death must be reported by the chairman of the neighborhood association (ketua rukun tetangga) or by another name in the domicile of the Resident to the local implementing agency (Instansi Pelaksana) no later than 30 (thirty) days from the date of death.
With patience, we can complete the administrative process for the passing of our loved ones. Also, as a family member, don’t forget to support each other. Take care!
