Jakarta Future City Accelerator
Smartcitizen did you know that the development and implementation of smart cities has a lot to do with how a city is seen by its residents. By using the concept of integration through the application of information technology into various public services such as the use of digital apps, it is expected to simplify the bureaucratic process. JAKI as a superapp owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government which was launched in 2019 has the aim of integrating all government and community services. Smart Change, which is also part of the collaboration between the Berlin government and the Jakarta government, has the Future City Accelerator (FCA) program implemented by Enpact and funded by the European Union. What is the program like and who are the stakeholders involved? Let’s take a closer look!
Acceleration Program
Future City Accelerator is an accelerator program in the field of entrepreneurship that is included in the Smart Change project and implemented by Enpact. Funded by the European Union, the program aims to empower entrepreneurs, companies and government agencies to solve urban challenges together.
The advantage of this program is that it offers broad access to networks of international and local mentors as well as tailor-made business training through international experts and trainers. This can happen because of the Smart City collaboration between the Berlin government and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government so that collaborations with local and international experts can be easily established.
Having more than 5 years experience in running various kinds of entrepreneurship-based programs in 10 countries spread across several continents Enpact has found a new way of conducting international economic cooperation by providing direct support to these people. Starting from a mentoring program that connected 20 entrepreneurs across continents, it has now grown to 3,200 businesses worldwide and provides them with direct financial support worth almost 7 Million Euros or more than 100 Billion Rupiah.
FCA x JAKI
Since its launch in 2019, JAKI has continued to carry out various transformations to become a good public service platform. Many service features have been issued and enjoyed by the community such as CRM portal, JakRespons, vaccination info and registration, JakPangan, JakWifi and others. Along with the development of time, digital public services are increasingly developing in providing convenience and quality services for the people of Jakarta so that it becomes a challenge for JAKI to be able to meet these integration needs.
In facing the challenge of joint innovation, Future City Accelerator collaborates with Jakarta Smart City as a partner in the hope that some challenges or problems related to JAKI can be resolved and answered by the startup ecosystem in Jakarta.
By integrating in the fields of data, technology, and the JakMap ecosystem, FCA together with JAKI make an outline of the problem, namely how JAKI can make it easier for residents to use public facilities provided by the Government and JAKI can provide convenience for tourists visiting the area. Jakarta with better and more reliable information.
Using the bootcamp method starting from October — November, these startups will discuss various topics ranging from Problem Solution Fit to producing output in the form of prototypes that will be ready to be launched. This prototype will then become a kind of pilot project between startups and JAKI regarding initiatives and collaboration in product development.
This startup will also get assistance in developing an integration plan while in the JAKI ecosystem which will be provided by Jakarta Smart City such as providing data related to the Smart City ecosystem which is important for the development of this product. Further cooperation can also occur which is formalized in the form of a Cooperation Agreement between Startup and JAKI.
If the collaboration continues outside the program formalized in the Cooperation Agreement, then selected startups can have the opportunity to gain access to selected data including exclusive access provided by the Jakarta Smart City authority. This will be the main asset of the selected participants as a commercial asset that can be introduced to potential customers and potential users in the JAKI application.
Cross-Sector Collaboration
As a program, cross-sectoral collaboration is needed to achieve common goals. The collaboration involved, such as between Smart Change and Enpact, which has a role as an executor, monitors and evaluates ongoing programs. Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Jakarta Smart City as contributors will provide access to the data needed by startups in terms of developing JAKI.
Startups and trainers have a role in providing recommendations regarding innovations that will be carried out related to the JAKI application ecosystem based on the formulation of the problem. Based on research conducted by Smart Change with Hukumonline and RuangTime, there are several suggestions regarding the development of features such as UI/UX, strengthening servers and databases. The hope is that startups can run this program and develop JAKI to be even better to answer the latest innovation challenges in solving urban problems.
