The long holiday amid the pandemic has always become a concern regarding the spread of Covid-19 which has not ended. This is because for some people, long holidays are the perfect time to go outside and visit family and close friends. Health protocols that are not implemented and the interaction that is too close with many people will make the spread of Covid-19 continue. Even though there are several people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19, this does not mean that the person is safe, because there is still the possibility of being infected.

As of May 18, 2021, after a long holiday, there were 7,293 active cases of Covid-19 in Jakarta. Despite the enactment of the homecoming ban, it was recorded that 2.6 million peopleleft Jakarta during the long holiday of Eid 2021. The long holiday since the emergence of the first Covid-19 case in Indonesia in March 2020 has always had an impact on the spike in Covid-19 cases. To prevent the higher wave of the spread of Covid-19 after the long holiday, we must anticipate the spread of family clusters.

Get Tested and Self-isolate After Travel

When you travel, you can become infected with Covid-19 during your trip, near or far. Especially if you don't keep your distance from other people who could unknowingly carry the SARS-Cov-2 virus. If you get infected and you go home, you will most likely pass it on to your other family member at home.

So, do a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) or antigen test immediately about 3-5 days after traveling to make sure you are safe from Covid-19 infection. If you are tested negative, keep doing self-isolation for at least 7 days to ensure that you are indeed free from Covid-19. Also pay attention to any Covid symptoms that you might feel. If you test positive, report it immediately and do self-isolation so that other people are not exposed to Covid-19 from you. Also, inform the people you meet if you are positive for Covid-19 so they can get themselves checked.

Apply Health Protocols and a Healthy Lifestyle

Applying health protocols (wearing a mask, maintaining distance, and washing hands) may have become our habit for this year. However, be careful not to let your guard down. You must continue to apply these measures properly and keep your immunity with a healthy daily lifestyle. Even though you have been vaccinated, strict health protocols and a healthy lifestyle can further minimize your chances of being exposed to Covid-19.

Don't Travel If You Are Sick or Unwell

When you are sick, your immune system decreases and you will be susceptible to Covid-19. Therefore, do not travel other than to the hospital for treatment if you are sick. Also pay attention to the symptoms you experience, if you feel symptoms of Covid-19 infection, keep wearing a mask even at home and have it checked immediately to the nearest health facility.

Minimize Mobility

The key word that is very important in terms of the spread of Covid-19 is citizen mobility. Long holidays increase the mobility of residents. So to reduce the spread of Covid-19, reduce mobility anywhere and stay at home. The more we minimize mobility, the closer we will be to the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. We certainly want this pandemic to end soon, right?
