The rainy season is indeed a challenge for Jakarta residents. An urban problem such as garbage that accumulates in waterways or damaged embankments, can create new, bigger problems. Therefore, during the rainy season, Smartcitizens need to be alert to various problems that may cause natural disasters. If you find these problems in your area, you can report it through 14 complaint channelsof Jakarta, including JAKI.

What are the problems that you can report during this rainy season? Let's run through them one by one.

Garbage

Garbages that are stuck and piled up in the riverbank will reduce the capacity of the river to accommodate rainwater. As a result, when it rains heavily, river water will overflow and cause flooding. If you find piles of garbage in rivers or other waterways, you can report them through JAKI by choosing the category of Sampah (garbage).

If we look back, some of the accumulated waste comes from residents’ habit to throw waste into rivers or other waterways. Therefore, in addition to reporting piles of garbage, Smartcitizens can also report littering. Just use JAKI and choose the same category, Sampah.

Puddle

Heavy rains during the rainy season can cause waterlogging. For some residents, puddles may seem trivial because they usually only reach a water level of less than 40 centimeters in an area with a radius of less than 100 meters. However, if not immediately followed up, some puddles can cause flooding. Therefore, it is important to report puddles that may cause flooding around us. Smartcitizens can report it through JAKI by selecting the Banjir (flood) category. Make sure you choose "Publik/Terbuka” as the type of report so that your report is visible to officers and help with coordination.

Fallen tree

During the rainy season, there is one more thing to watch out for, which is fallen trees. Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds are usually prone to causing trees to fall. In extreme conditions, this fallen tree can impede mobility on the road and hit people's homes or public facilities. If Smartcitizen finds a case like this, Smartcitizen can report it through JAKI under the category of Pohon.

Broken Embankment

If Smartcitizen pays attention, there are quite a number of embankments scattered in Jakarta. Embankments usually function to maintain river flow, prevent erosion, and others. However, when the rainfall is very high and the soil subsidence occurs, the embankment can burst. This damaged embankment can trigger flooding. Therefore, you need to report if the embankment around your neighborhood is damaged. Reports can be sent through JAKI with the Saluran Air, Kali/Sungai(waterways) category.

Flood

When the intensity of rainfall is so high that the water in the waterway overflows and cannot be absorbed quickly, that's when flooding occurs. If you find a flooded area, you can report it through JAKI under the Banjir category. In addition to being able to report floods, through the JAKI application, you can also access various information through the JakPantau feature, such as alert status in all river flows, water level, floodgate conditions, weather conditions in all streams, flood-affected areas, refugee locations and refugee information.

Post-Disaster Social Assistance

With a series of government anticipation effortsin facing the rainy season, natural disasters are not something that is wanted to happen. However, we must also remain vigilant. For example, if a natural disaster occurs and you find affected people who need social assistance, please report through JAKI under the category of Banjir.

JAKI Helps You Anticipate Disasters

The Jakarta Provincial Government does have 14 complaint channels that you can use to report various city problems. However, JAKI is the most practical for those of you who actively use smartphones and want integrated services. By using JAKI, you can not only file a report, but you can also see the reports follow-up in real-time by accessing the JakRespons feature. In addition, JAKI will also send you weather forecasts and disaster early warning information via push notifications from JakWarta. To be more vigilant during the rainy season, you can also monitor flood conditions through JakPantau.

Then, how to report problems in JAKI? Here are the steps.

  1. Download the JAKI application via Google Play Storeor Apple App Store.
  2. Once installed, open the JAKI application.
  3. Click the camera icon at the bottom of the JAKI main page.

  1. Select report type. To make your report visible to officers, select the Public/Open report type.

  1. Take a picture of the problem.

  1. Select report category.

  1. Fill in the problem description, location, and additional information.
