Grand Mass Traffic Route Diversions

Pope Francis will visit the State Palace on September 4, 2024, to meet with President Joko Widodo at 10:00 AM. Later, the Pope will visit the Cathedral Church at 4:00 PM. The following day, September 5, 2024, the Pope will visit the Istiqlal Mosque at 8:30 AM, followed by a grand mass at the GBK Main Stadium starting at 3:30 PM.

Due to these scheduled activities, there will be traffic diversions in these three locations as follows:

  • Wednesday, September 4, 2024: On this day, traffic diversions will be implemented around the Cathedral Church, particularly for traffic coming from the South (Bundaran HI, Tanah Abang, Kebon Sirih, Budi Kemuliaan) heading East (Senen Station). Vehicles will be directed through alternative roads, including the West side of Thamrin Road, the West side of Medan Merdeka Barat Road, Majapahit Road, Juanda Road, Pos Road, Gunung Sahari Road, and so on.
  • Thursday, September 5, 2024: On the second day, similar diversions will be in place around the Istiqlal Mosque. Traffic from the South heading East will be diverted via the same routes as the previous day. Meanwhile, vehicles from the East (Menteng) heading West (Tanah Abang) are advised to use Hos Cokroaminoto Road, Wahid Hasyim Road, Mas Mansyur Road, and so on.

To support the Grand Mass at GBK on September 5, 2024, a total of 1,510 buses for the congregation will be stationed at seven parking locations around Jakarta, as follows:
