Jakarta continues to move forward as a pioneer of interregional digital collaboration. The Department of Communications, Informatics and Statistics of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, through Jakarta Smart City (JSC), has established a strategic partnership with the Banda Aceh City Government. This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the celebration of the 820th Anniversary of Banda Aceh. Both parties are united in their mission to build a modern, inclusive, and responsive public service system.

Collaboration for Digital Transformation in Indonesia

The MoU between the Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta and the Banda Aceh City Government is part of a shared commitment to accelerate the digital transformation of public services across Indonesia. The collaboration continues with a technical agreement in the form of a Type II Self-Managed Project (Swakelola Tipe II). Its main focus is the development of integrated digital public services and the enhancement of public service branding in Banda Aceh.

Within the scope of this partnership, both parties have agreed to design various concrete initiatives to support a comprehensive digital transformation. One such initiative is the development of a digital public service platform, which includes branding elements such as visual design, informative narratives, and user-friendly usage guides. Additionally, public service integration will be achieved through the development of streamlined access to information, services, and citizen complaints.

This collaboration is also strengthened by the use of data centers and digital communication systems that support data-driven policy making. Equally important, the partnership includes mentoring, training, and consulting activities aimed at enhancing the capabilities of human resources in the field of information and communication technology within local governments.

Introducing JAKI Super-App

The Jakarta Kini (JAKI) super-app was introduced as a tangible example of Jakarta’s digital innovation. This application serves as an integrated public service channel that has proven to improve efficiency and accessibility. Available for download via Google Play Store  and App Store, people in Jakarta can use its features for free. The Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta hopes that a super-app like JAKI  can be implemented in Banda Aceh, with adjustments tailored to local needs and characteristics. A similar collaboration has been carried out with the Provincial Government of Lampung, which has already shown positive impacts in the implementation of more integrated digital public services. Jakarta continues to strive to play a role as a center of digital innovation, ready to share and drive Indonesia’s progress. Collaboration is not the end of an initiative, but rather the beginning of a joint movement toward a more digitally intelligent Indonesia.

Budi Awaluddin, Head of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta of Communication, Informatics, and Statistics, stated that digital transformation is no longer optional but a necessity in responding to the demands of the times. He emphasised that this collaboration is not just about sharing technology, but also sharing experiences, best practices, and the spirit of building adaptive governance.

“People today demand convenience and speed. JAKI is our effort to meet that demand. We would be very proud to see JAKI developed collaboratively with Banda Aceh, of course with adjustments to local values,” he said.
