Take a Trip to the New Jakarta Library

There is a new area in the TIM area that is really a must-visit! Especially if you like to read books or are looking for a work from anywhere location. Well, you can try to come to the Jakarta Library at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jalan Cikini Raya No. 73, Central Jakarta. This library has been inaugurated by Governor Anies Baswedan on July 7, 2022 and opened to the public on July 8, 2022. So, what is the reading atmosphere like at the Jakarta Library and what can be done here? Read this article, yes!

Don't Forget to Reserve Before Visiting

Well, to be able to enter here, you can make a reservation in advance through the perpustakaan.jakarta.go.id site. Later, you can create an account first, and then you can fill out the guest book on the browse menu. After that, you can choose a date to visit here. You can register as an individual or a balance of more than 3 people. You see, the visitor quota here is limited to 300 people per day. Later you will get a barcode to scan at the entrance of the Jakarta Library. Just a suggestion if you want to get access to multimedia room facilities and borrow books, you can register a membership through the Jakarta Library website and wait for the 1x24 hour membership verification sent to your email.

For the day of visit, you can come monday to sunday from 09.00 to 17.00 WIB. The location of the Jakarta Library is located on the 3rd Floor, Taman Ismail Marzuki. You can go up to that floor through the elevator that has been provided. Then, follow the directions, so you won't stray here. To enjoy the reading collection, you can go up to the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors.

A Super Diverse Reading Collection

There is a large selection of books in the Jakarta Library! The themes also vary, ranging from high school children's love-love novels, home happiness, computers, self-development, reading collections about Jakarta, or reminiscing about children's reading collections here. If you want to search for a specific book, you can come to the information center located on each floor or search for it through a computer near the entrance. In each hallway, there are also theme names available, so you won't have trouble finding books with a certain theme.

For the reading room, you can read it in the exploration room with lesehan, the privacy reading room, or in a chair whose view is facing outwards. Well, you can read books at ease. In addition, if you bring a gadget, don't worry, here there are charging spots and Wi-Fi facilities. So, want to read while working thinly, want to me-time, or library-date, you can really do it! 

Besides Reading, There Are Other Facilities That Can Be Enjoyed

Not only can you enjoy the reading atmosphere, here there is also a playroom facility for children which is located on the 4th floor. There is an educational game room, besides the bookshelf of collectibles of children of various ages. There are storybooks to general knowledge books in the form of encyclopedias.

In addition, there is also a multimedia room located on the 6th floor. However, to be able to access this computer room, you need to register yourself as a member of the Jakarta Library. Later you will be asked to show a membership barcode to be scanned. After that, you will be escorted by the officer to be able to enjoy this multimedia area.

If you like biography and literature, it is really advisable to come to the HB Jassin Literary Documentation Center which is located on the 4th Floor. The location is opposite to the location of the Jakarta Library. There, you can see a collection of letters and books of poetry from Chairil Anwar and HB Jassin. In addition, on the 5th floor, you can read the collection from PDS HB Jassin.

Exciting and comfortable, right? Well, for those of you who want to visit here, you can take public transportation, such as the Jakarta MRT, then you get off at bundaran HI Station and continue with online transportation, KRL and get off at Cikini Station, or Transjakarta 5H (Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang via Cikini) or 6B (Senen-Lebak Bulus) later get off in the TIM area. In addition, to enter this library, don't forget to always comply with health protocols, yes!
