On the evening of May 28, 2025, Terowongan Kendal was brimming with excitement. Right at the intersection across from Disenja Café and Sudirman Station, citizens gathered for an event titled “Jakarta Kini Lebih Dekat.” Organized by Jakarta Smart City (JSC), the event celebrated the launch of new features on the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app, now more intuitive, comprehensive, and responsive, as well as the installation of 100 new CCTV units to meet public needs.

This launch was more than just ceremonial, it was a moment to reflect on the digital service transformation Jakarta has undergone since 2019. Over the past five years, JAKI has served as a bridge between citizens and the government. Now, with 11 new features, that bridge has grown even stronger.

On stage, Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung was present alongside Vice Governor Rano Karno, accompanied by Head of Jakarta’s Department of Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Budi Awaluddin, and Acting Head of Jakarta Smart City Management Unit Koharudin. Governor Pramono Anung expressed his appreciation for the major steps taken by Diskominfotik and Jakarta Smart City. “I want to congratulate Diskominfotik. With the new logo, I hope public service delivery will be even better,” he said.

11 New Features on JAKI That Smarten Up Our Lives

JAKI now comes with 11 new features and significant improvements to the Cepat Respon Masyarakat (CRM) system. All features are designed to address Jakarta residents’ essential needs—from healthcare and emergency response to mobility, mental health, and dedicated services for those in the Thousand Islands Regency.

In healthcare, residents can now book medical appointments online at DKI Jakarta government-owned health facilities using the Antrean Faskes feature. With this, users can schedule visits to community health centers (puskesmas), regional general hospitals, and specialized hospitals without having to queue in person. Flexible scheduling options also help users manage their time more efficiently. Adding to this convenience, JAKI is now integrated with BPJS Kesehatan’s Mobile JKN app, allowing users to access JKN services seamlessly from a single platform.

In urgent situations, two new features accessible via the Emergency Button are ready to assist: Emergency Call 112, which connects users to the Jakarta BPBD Call Center 24/7, and Free Ambulance Service, enabling users to call an ambulance within three seconds.

Additionally, JAKI introduces the Hospital Room Availability Checker, helping residents quickly find available hospital beds, making the process more efficient and less stressful.

The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta is also providing special attention to residents of the Thousand Islands. Through JAKI, citizens can access Funeral Boat Services for dignified, no-cost repatriation of the deceased, and Shelter Services for patient companions receiving treatment in Jakarta. These shelters offer proper rest facilities near hospitals and administrative assistance, supporting the overall recovery process.

Beyond physical needs, mental well-being is also addressed through JakCare (Jakarta Counseling and Assistance for Resilience and Empowerment). This feature allows users to consult with clinical psychologists online, free of charge. It reflects the government's commitment to supporting Jakarta residents’ mental health.

Mobility improvements are another focus area. The app now includes a Parking Spot Locator, displaying official parking areas across Jakarta to help users plan their trips without the hassle of searching for parking. Additionally, to support disaster preparedness and extreme weather response, JAKI now features Early Warning Notifications.

Enhancements to JAKI are also closely tied to optimizing the CRM system through the introduction of Feedback and Report Rating features. These allow users to provide feedback on reports they’ve submitted, fostering more participatory and transparent public services.

A key CRM innovation also introduced is the Coordination Button, available on the CRM dashboards of regional leaders such as the Governor and Vice Governor. This button enables leaders to issue direct, data-driven instructions to relevant local government agencies for quick and accurate follow-up on citizen reports.

These new features not only enhance JAKI’s functionality but also raise public awareness of how technology can be used to report urban issues. As Governor Pramono emphasized, “The most viral feature now is the Panic Button. This shows that people are really beginning to understand JAKI’s role and function. With these new features, we hope everyone will report anything they encounter in the field through Jakarta.”

100 New CCTV Units for a Safer Jakarta

Alongside the JAKI feature upgrades, Jakarta has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety by installing 100 new CCTV units in strategic locations citywide.

These CCTV cameras not only boost the sense of security in public spaces, but also enhance law enforcement and real-time public order monitoring—especially in residential areas. Each unit is directly connected to a central monitoring system, allowing personnel to respond quickly and with data-driven accuracy. This innovation is a critical step toward making Jakarta a smarter and more responsive city that actively protects its citizens.

“Connected Jakarta”: Diskominfotik’s New Identity

The event also served as the debut of the new logo and tagline of Jakarta’s Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Department (Diskominfotik): “Connected Jakarta.” This new identity reflects a renewed spirit of building inclusive, effective, and interconnected public communication.

With a more streamlined and dynamic design, this new branding aims to strengthen the image of public services as accessible, responsive, and trustworthy. The “Connected Jakarta” philosophy highlights the importance of two-way communication between the government and its people, an information system built by us, from us, and for us.

The visual elements of the logo include symbolic features representing a collaborative network among stakeholders, from local government units and communities to the media and the general public. With elements symbolizing attention, support, and connection, Diskominfotik seeks to develop public communication that is not only informative but also participatory.

Lively and Interactive: A Launch That Felt Close to the People

Beyond showcasing JAKI’s features, the launch event was designed to be inclusive and interactive. The main stage, located along Terowongan Kendal, hosted the core of the celebration, allowing residents to enjoy the festivities. To the left of the stage, the JAKI booth served as the hub of interactive activities, where visitors could try out JAKI’s new features, access the Jakarta Smart City website, join exciting games, and explore various engaging activations.

On the right side stood the Jakarta Smart City (JSC) booth, offering in-depth information on digital innovations and services provided by the Jakarta Provincial Government. Near this booth was the “Warga Jakarta’s Story Wall”, an interactive installation where people could write reports and scan QR codes to continue reporting via the JAKI app easily and quickly. Both booths also featured convex mirrors that became popular selfie spots, especially among Gen Z, adding a trendy touch and strengthening the bond between JAKI and JSC users.

One visitor, Rizky Aulia Putra, a student from SMAN 55 Jakarta, shared his experience using JAKI. “The new features really make using the app easier. Everything feels so much more practical now.” Similarly, Novi, a Central Jakarta resident, commented on how helpful the new features were at healthcare facilities. “These new features are extremely useful, especially at facilities where queues are common. The eleven new JAKI features help cut waiting time and make services more efficient.”

To support the visuals, strategic points of the event, such as the entrance to Sudirman KRL Station and its surroundings, were equipped with videotrons displaying the new JAKI interface and highlight features in real time.

With its rich combination of activities, entertainment, and visual interactions, the launch of JAKI’s new features and CCTV installation at Terowongan Kendal succeeded in creating an experience that was not only informative but also enjoyable and engaging for Jakarta’s residents.

The “Jakarta Kini Lebih Dekat” Event Series

The main stage began to buzz at 4 PM, opening with acoustic music from the Department of Tourism and Creative Economy, followed by a warm welcome from MCs Afif Xavi, Mega Salsabillah, and Yudha Brajamusti. The atmosphere grew livelier with a casual dialogue between the Governor and the MCs about JAKI’s latest features and the addition of 100 new CCTV units in Jakarta.

As a form of appreciation, awards were given to parties that contributed to the success of the 100-Day Quick Wins program, particularly for the implementation of 100 CCTV points. Awards were also presented for the winning design of the “Connected Jakarta” logo, marking a new era of more adaptive and connected government communications.

The event was further enlivened by a stand-up comedy performance that drew laughter from the crowd. Closing the evening on a high note, music group The Lantis delivered a stunning performance, filling the air with vibrant energy.

This event's success would not have been possible without the support of various parties, including the Department of Transportation, Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Department of Industry and Energy, Department of Tourism and Creative Economy, PT MRT Jakarta (MITJ), and many other bureaus and regional working units (OPDs) within the Jakarta Provincial Government. This cross-sector collaboration has enabled Jakarta to deliver innovations that truly make an impact on people’s lives.

Be Part of the Change with JAKI

The launch of JAKI’s new features and the installation of 100 CCTV units are not just technological milestones, they are a tangible manifestation of Jakarta’s commitment to becoming a safer, more inclusive, and better-connected city. Through the “Jakarta Is Now Closer” event, citizens were not only witnesses to innovation but also active participants in the transformation. Let’s continue using JAKI, report issues that need fixing, and support Jakarta in becoming a better home for everyone.
