Starting on February 17, 2022, the Jakarta Provincial Government, through The Jakarta Smart City, organized a discussion space for stakeholders and co-creators to prepare Jakarta as an economic and business center after no longer being a capital city. This refers to the issuance of the National Capital Law (IKN) which resulted in a planned transfer of the capital to East Kalimantan. After no longer being the capital, the Jakarta Provincial Government and other stakeholders prepare Jakarta to become an economic and business center. This preparation also sees the potential of Jakarta to be the center of economic activity in Indonesia. Even so, the challenge is to create an economic and business center that can be competitive on a global scale. Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government opened a discussion room called Jakarta Digital Outlook (JDO).

Transforming Jakarta Into Center of Global Economic and Business

The Jakarta Digital Outlook (JDO) discussion room was attended by a number of speakers from various stakeholders. They provide views and input as the basis for formulating the concept of digital transformation planning in Jakarta, which is expected to improve the quality of public services and prepare Jakarta as a global business and economic city center. Apart from the speakers, the Jakarta Digital Outlook (JDO) webinar can also be attended by the general public.

This discussion event took place online via the Zoom. Later, there will be several series of Jakarta Digital Outlook (JDO) events. In the first series, the theme is Digital Transformation Towards Jakarta as a Center for Global Economy and Business. The speakers who attended this series included Dr. Aswin Sasongko (Former Secretary General and Director General of of Application and Informatics, Ministry of Communication and Informatics), Prof. Kalamullah Ramli (Professor of Computer Engineering, University of Indonesia, Former Director General of Post and Information Technology, Ministry of Communication and Informatics), Dr. Cahyana Ahmadjayadi (Founder of CitiAsia), and Dr. Alexander Rusli, Ph.D. (Founder of DigiAsia, Former CEO of Indosat, and Special Staff of the Minister of Communication and Informatics).

This session began with an introduction from the moderator of the event, Yudhistira Nugraha, Head of the Jakarta Smart City, and closed with a Q&A session and conclusions. The results of the discussion will be collected into one form of a policy brief which will be published on the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government website. "The existence of this discussion room is a form of openness from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for the community to contribute through a policy brief," concluded Pak Yudhistira in the first series of discussions.

After the first series, the Jakarta Digital Outlook (JDO) will continue on March 10, 2022, with a discussion of the second series with the theme Digital Economy Development Towards Jakarta as a Center for Global Scale Economy and Business. The session will be opened with remarks from the Head of the DKI Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency, Atika Nur Rahmania.
