The capital city of Jakarta does not stand nor move on its own as a city center for activities. There are areas around Jakarta which in their day-to-day also become a place for community movements. The greater area of Jakarta, which includes Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) is an agglomeration area which is a territorial unit consisting of several city centers or districts that are interconnected.

So many workers who live in areas around Jakarta, such as Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi who seek income in Jakarta and vice versa. Not only are the workers who go back and forth every day to Jakarta, residents are also used to do activities in the Jabodetabek to meet other needs, both in the form of economic needs, tourism and entertainment.

The high level of mobility in the Jabodetabek area encourages the presence of public transportation that can accommodate residents to carry out cross-city activities smoothly. Smartcitizen, maybe you have experienced how it feels to ride the Commuter Line from Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, or Bekasi to Jakarta or vice versa? The rails that are already connected between cities make it easier for you to transport across cities in a short time. Now, to continue the effort to make Jabodetabek transportation more connected and comfortable for users, there is a Jabodetabek Transportation Integration concept, a result of collaboration between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the central government.

Collaborative Work

To implement Jabodetabek Transportation Integration, a joint venture company was formed between PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) called PT Moda Jabodetabek Transportation Integration (MITJ).

MITJ is collaborating in structuring several stations in Jakarta. The first phase of station revitalization is carried out at Juanda, Pasar Senen, Tanah Abang, and Sudirman station. Meanwhile, the second phase includes Tebet, Palmerah, Gondangdia, Manggarai, and Jakarta Kota station. Furthermore, there is also the construction of the Multipurpose Bridge or JPM. The construction of the JPM will take the theme of "Serambi Temu Dukuh Atas” which is targeted for completion in June 2022 along with the operation of the Jabodebek LRT.

To further support the integration, of course, it is also necessary to have an integrated payment system that can be used in Jabodetabek. In this regard, PT Jaklingko was formed which is a joint venture between PT MITJ, PT MRT Jakarta, PT Transjakarta, and PT Jakarta Propertindo. The integrated tariff with the combined system will be implemented in March 2022 at a more affordable price. Later, the Jak Lingko payment card will also be able to be used for intermodal travel, connecting transportation, such as MRT, LRT, TransJakarta, with KRL, and even microtrans city transportation (angkot).

Better Intermodal Connectivity

The construction and revitalization of stations and various facilities for users of public transportation is not only made with a beautiful design, but also prioritizes a more organized connectivity flow. For example, in the revitalization of the new Tebet Station, commuters now have much easier access to other types of transportation when they arrive at the station. There are Transjakarta bus stops, microtrans stopping points, bajaj and online motorcycle taxi pick-up points. With the connectivity between modes, such as trains, buses, and other public transportation, it will make it easier for residents to move around.

With the JakLingko payment system, which will apply a cheaper bundling price, it will also make the experience of using public transportation more comfortable and affordable for all residents.

Let's Use Public Transportation

Smartcitizen, you must already know that by using public transportation you will avoid traffic jams and get cheaper prices for commuting in Jabodetabek, right? Well, besides that, you also help protect the environment and reduce pollution which is getting higher because the use of private vehicles is still high in the downtown area. Therefore, let's switch to using public transportation for activities in Jabodetabek and help maintain the facilities made especially for you to be more comfortable. Report all forms of damage and acts of vandalism at stations and bus stops that you encounter through the JakLapor feature on JAKI. Let's use public transportation and protect it together.
