In marking the World Environment Day as well as the part of Jakarta Hajatan (Jakarta’s Celebration) events, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has exciting activities to increase awareness of loving and protecting the environment with several series of activities at Tebet Eco Park. How is the excitement? Check it out in the following article.

Clean Air for Jakarta Festival

On June 5, the Clean Air for Jakarta Festival was organized by the Environmental Agency of Jakarta and several collaborators, which includes Vital Strategies, Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP), Ayo ke Taman, Bicara Udara, Nafas, Nekropolis, and UNICEF Indonesia. This activity is one of a series of events commemorating the Anniversary of Jakarta (Jakarta Hajatan) which also raises environmental issues.

The clean air theme was chosen to increase awareness related to air quality control in the Jakarta area. The campaign activities were organized through campaigns on social media which became part of pre-event events on Instagram and podcasts for campaigns recommending people to use public transportation such as the MRT and Transjakarta. The campaign was also done offline which took place at Tebet Eco Park.

The offline event is the culminating series of events. The activities that have taken place there are talk shows from representatives of the Environmental Agency and representatives of young people related to actions that can be taken to reduce air pollution, music performances by Cikini Tropical Sound, Keroncong Batavia Hood, Vinyl DJ Curation by Studiomaja, art installations with the theme of air pollution, riding activities with BikeShare by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, as well as activation by collaborators such as electric vehicle installations, solar panels, or the use of bicycles. It is hoped that this event will be a form of collective action to reduce air pollution in Jakarta.

In addition to the Clean Air for Jakarta Festival, there are also other events that raise environmental issues, namely the Waste Awareness Movement Week starting from June 20–25, 2022. Later in this activity there will be a series of household waste management activities involving 2,743 RW (urban villages) in Jakarta. These actions include waste sorting activities, communal composting, community service work, and preparing waste banks.

Simple Ways to Protect the Environment

Obviously, you can also actively participate in protecting the environment in Jakarta, it’s as simple as using public transportation for your daily commutes such as taking the MRT, LRT, or Transjakarta. In addition, you also use a bicycle or walk on the dedicated lanes provided by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

By doing that, you have participated in reducing air pollution in Jakarta. You can also monitor air pollution through the JakISPU feature in the JAKI application. In fact, you can also participate in protecting the environment by monitoring your daily emissions from the waste produced. It is very easy to use the JakEmisi feature in JAKI.

Now, what are you waiting for? Let’s take simple steps to protect the environment with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Smartcitizen!
