  1. JAKI

As Jakarta’s super app, JAKI offers features to assist during the rainy season. The Citizen Report feature allows users to report issues in Jakarta, including concerns related to rain or flood. You can also check reports from other residents to identify areas affected by rain or floods by searching the keyword “banjir” (flood). Simply open the Citizen Report feature and select Search reports.

Another feature that you can use is News. You can get notifications such as early warnings of heavy rain or lightning. In addition, this feature will provide information about alerts of tidal floods (caused by rising sea levels). This will be useful for Jakarta residents who live on the coast.

Simple Steps to Prevent Flooding

Prolonged heavy rain can lead to flooding, often due to drainage systems being overwhelmed. However, we can all contribute to flood prevention. Small actions can make a significant impact on our environment. Here’s how you can help:

  1. Dispose of trash properly, avoiding rivers and drains.

  1. Regularly clean drainage systems to prevent blockages.

  1. Avoid building homes in hazardous areas like riverbanks, which can be dangerous during rising water levels.

  1. Construct infiltration wells to help absorb rainwater faster.  At home, you can also create biopore infiltration  to help reduce the risk of water pooling. Check out how to do it
here.

  1. If planning to cut down trees, ensure reforestation by planting new ones to regenerate forests.
