Jakarta is still in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic. The PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restrictions), like in the early days of the pandemic, are now in effect again as an emergency brake policy. Emergency brakes are one of the efforts to restrict the transmission of Covid-19 in Jakarta. This policy will certainly be more effective if it is accompanied by various other efforts, such as tracing, which is no less important. To track the Covid-19 case in Jakarta, the Jakarta Provincial Government is trying to carry out contact tracing and check-point monitoring.

What is Contact Tracing?

According to Journal Healthcare Management Sciencecontact tracing is the key to slowing down or even stopping the spread of infectious diseases. This of course also applies to Covid-19 disease. Contact tracing is an effort by health workers to find out who are the people who have contact with patients who are infected with infectious diseases to stop the wider spread.

In the case of Covid-19, virus transmission occurs through droplets, namely droplets that come out when someone talks, coughs and sneezes. So, transmission can occur if someone who is positive for Covid-19 comes face to face with another person at a distance of less than 2 meters for at least 15 minutes. So, to conduct a contact tracing of a positive case of Covid-19, patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 will be asked several questions regarding going to any place during the last 14 days and meeting anyone. This is because people who have close contact with the patient can be infected and spread themselves to a wider range of other people.

To slow down and stop the spread, people who are known to be in close contact with the patient will be asked to be contacted, then they will be informed about close contact with a positive patient with Covid-19.

People who are in close contact with patients will be asked to be vigilant, pay attention to symptoms and check whether they are infected or not, also carry out isolation so that the spread of the Coronavirus does not spread.

By carrying out contact tracing, the Jakarta Department of Health can find out who is in close contact with positive patients, which areas have a lot of people affected by Covid-19, also know the clusters where the Covid-19 spread. Thus, both the government and the public can make efforts to stop the transmission of the virus by reducing the number of people carrying the virus doing activities.

What is Check-Point Monitoring?

As you already know, Covid-19 is a disease that can be transmitted through droplets. And droplets can be transmitted if the distance is close enough from one person to another. Therefore, keeping a distance from other people is very important and avoiding crowds is one of the efforts.

To avoid places with large numbers of people and to minimize transmission, check-point monitoring is important.

Check-point monitoring is a monitoring system in various buildings in Jakarta that are visited by many people, such as offices and shopping centers. Every person who will enter a building will check-in and check-out either manually or by barcode scanning. With check point monitoring, every person who enters the building can be known how many.

In accordance with PSBB regulations where offices are only allowed to operate with 25% of employees and other public places can only contain 50% of capacity, check-point monitoring will detect which buildings are more than the specified capacity and are at high risk of transmission.
