We are getting closer to June! The month of June always brings special momentum in Jakarta. Yup, Jakarta's anniversary falls on June 22. Every year, there are always a series of events specifically held to enliven this moment, such as creative markets, festivals, and the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran.

This year, Jakarta's 496th anniversary will also be filled with a series of interesting events. What are those? We'll find out together through this article.

A Series of Events for Jakarta's 496th Anniversary

Even though the anniversary is in June, the atmosphere of it has started to be felt since the end of May. The series of events has also begun to slowly be implemented this month. Here one by one the events that will be held.
 

Jakarta Great Sale Festival

Opening the series of events, the Jakarta Great Sale Festival is held in 94 shopping centers from the 21st of May to the 21st of July. This festival has been held in previous years, but it was stopped when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. Now, after the pandemic conditions have subsided, the Jakarta Great Sale Festival is being held again.

Festival Jakarta Great Sale offers discounted prices for customers in certain shopping centers. This year, several shopping centers are holding the Jakarta Great Sale Festival, such as:

• Central Jakarta: Grand Indonesia, Senayan City, Senayan Park. Plaza Atrium, Mangga Dua Mall and others;
• South Jakarta: Pacific Place, Pondok Indah Mall, Kota Kasablanka, Gandaria City, Plaza Blok M and others;
• North Jakarta: Summarecon Mall Kelapa Gading, Mall of Indonesia, PIK Avenue, Pluit Village, Mall Pluit Junction, and others;
• East Jakarta: Cibubur Junction, AEON Mall Jakarta Garden City, Lippo Plaza Kramat Jati, Buaran Plaza, Mall @Bassura, and others.

Literacy Activities

The second event to be held is the Literacy Activity from 22 May to 22 June 2023. There has not yet been detailed information about what activations will be held in literacy activities or the parties involved. But, Smartcitizens can monitor the news via the social media of @dkijakarta.

Semasa

Moving on to the third event, namely Semasa. Semasa is a creative market in Jakarta that houses a variety of curated local products. This year, Semasa will be held at Taman Lapangan Banteng from 2 to 4 June 2023, from 10 am to 8 pm. To visit Semasa, you are not going to be charged. Here are some activities that you can enjoy there.

• A creative market that provides 80+ choices of brands from Indonesia and the region;
• Workshop managed by Bee App;
• A market that sells food and drinks from 40+ tenants to accompany visitor picnics;
• Jakarta City Sound by JxB;
• Preloved Market by Persimmon which sells various preloved products;
• Photobox from Photomatix with two themes, namely Semasa and Liunic on Things;
• Walking Tour with Jakarta Good Guide with an agenda to explore Banteng Field as well as examine its history.

Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2023

Who doesn't know the Jakarta Fair? For those who don't know, the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2023 or previously known as the Jakarta Fair is an annual exhibition held to commemorate the anniversary of the city of Jakarta. The Jakarta Fair is usually held for one full month. This year, the Jakarta Fair will be held at the Kemayoran JIEXPO Arena from 14 June to 16 July 2023.

Currently, there has not been much information about the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2023. However, referring to the previous year's Jakarta Fair, there are several activities that you can see or do. For example visiting various tenants who promote and sell products from various industrial sectors, such as fashion, handicrafts, and others. Apart from that, you can also visit food and beverage outlets, enjoy music concerts, watch parades, and visit booths from several Jakarta Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD).

Also enlivening the 2023 Jakarta Fair Kemayoran, Jakarta Smart City will also open a booth! There, you can take part in various activations and get to know more about JSC and JAKI. There will be merchandise and various games with prizes too.

Indonesia Comic Con Pop Asia

Indonesia Comic Con Pop Asia is a platform to enjoy pop culture for fans of comics, anime, and toys. The event itself will be held from 23 to 25 June 2023 as a series of the Jakarta Anniversary. Currently, there is not much information about what activities will be held. But, if you're curious or want to join the show, you can look for the information on Instagram @indocomiccon.

Monas Week

The icon of Jakarta, the National Monument (Monas) is part of a series of events for Jakarta's anniversary. Monas Week will be held from 20 to 25 June 2023 at Monas. The social media @monumen.nasionalhasn't further announced what activities will be held, but looking at the previous Monas Week, there are usually art performances and musical performances that you shouldn't miss.

Kota Tua Community Parade

The next event is the Kota Tua Community Parade. This parade will be held on 24 June 2023 in Kota Tua. There has been no information yet on what activities will be carried out. However, considering that this is a parade, there will likely be a procession around the Kota Tua area. Archive Exhibition

The last event that will be open is the Archive Exhibition. The exhibition will be held on 25-30 June 2023. Considering that the event is still a long way off, there has been no detailed information regarding holding the Archives Exhibition. However, last year, a similar event was also held at the Taman Ismail Marzuki Long Building.
