The rainy season has arrived, and your clothes may take to dry. And might  also worry about puddles and floods due to very high rainfall. Floods can threaten your house or hinder your mobility in Jakarta. You might be confused and ask yourself, how to check flood locations in Jakarta so you can be more prepared.

Smartcitizen, to answer your worries, JAKI as Jakarta’s official superapp, already has the JakPantau feature that can help you monitor puddles and floods in the capital. This feature is a collaboration with various parties, such as the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Jakarta Water Resources Agency (DSDA), Jakarta Smart City (JSC), and of course flood reports from residents who submit it through the CRM system.

Get To Know with Jakpantau on JAKI

If you don't have JAKI yet on your smartphone, you can download and install JAKI via Google Play Storeor Apple App Store. After you open JAKI and select the JakPantau menu, you will be able to see the map view of Jakarta with various JakPantau features.

Floodgate

Through this feature, you can check the number of flood/sluice gates and their locations in Jakarta. With the 'Semua Aliran' (all streams) dropdown menu, you can see which floodgates are active in a particular stream. You can choose all streams, west streams, central streams, and east streams.

Observation post

By clicking on 'Pos Pengamatan' or Observation Post, you can find out the location of the active observation post on the day and date of your choice. Then, as with the floodgates menu, you can also filter the selection by the streams.

Water pump

In the 'Pompa Air' or Water Pump feature, you can see the distribution of water pumps throughout Jakarta. At each location, there can be more than one water pump in operation. In this feature, you can also see the total number of water pumps in Jakarta, both operating and those on standby.

Check Flood Locations with JAKI

You can find various information about flood mitigation such as floodgates, observation posts, and water pumps at JakPantau. So, what about the flood locations themselves? Don't worry, you can still access it via JakPantau. Follow the steps below to find out how to see flood locations from Neighbourhood (RT) level in Jakarta:

  1. Open the JakPantau feature in JAKI

  1. Choose "Info Banjir" menu

  1. At the top right, click "Info Banjir (RT)" button

  1. You will be directed to the flood map dashboard

In this map, you will be able to see locations where puddles/floods exist, if any. In addition, you can also find out information such as the number of RT affected by the flood, the size of the area affected by the flood, the list of RT affected by the flood, floodgate data, and the number of RT affected by the flood per administrative city.

The flood data displayed are sourced from Jakarta's BPBD, information on floodgates is obtained from the DSDA, while the regional map is sourced from the DKI Jakarta Department of Human Settlements, Spatial Planning and Land. In addition to the collaboration of the three agencies, the dissemination of information on flood locations in Jakarta is also inseparable from the work of collaborators in the field who report puddles and floods in detail.
