Floods tend to occur when the extreme rainy season arrives. The handling and mitigation will require cooperation between the community and also the government. One of the main ways for people to participate in helping the government in dealing with floods is to report flooding or inundation. However, have you ever thought what would be done if you had reported a flood or puddle? For that, you can read how Jakarta responds to citizens' reports below.

Flood Report Follow-up Process

When reporting a problem related to floods, you can do this through official reporting channels, such as JAKI or other reporting platforms that are integrated into the Cepat Respons Masyarakat (CRM) system. If you choose JAKI, your report will be forwarded to the kelurahan (hamlet). However, if you choose another reporting channel, the report will be forwarded through the admin first.

Next, your report will be checked based on the emergency status. If your report indicates a major flood and requires emergency assistance, your report will be followed up by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). However, if it is a regular flood or inundation, your report will be followed up by the Water Resources Agency (DSDA). The DSDA is also on alert to follow up on inundations or floods that are not reported by residents. Later these reports will be monitored by the admin every three hours.

Next, the report needs to be confirmed and validated. This refers to the source of the flood report. If the report comes from citizens, it will be received by BPBD and DSDA. The report will be sent for confirmation to neighborhood/hamlet/subdistricts by telephone, whether the flood has not receded or not. If the flood has not receded or there is no flood, then the report will be given a ticket and declared as an 'unclear report'. However, if there is still a flood, the report will have to be responded to and the data will be validated and recorded in flood maps, flood history data, and flood dashboard data.

In addition to reports from residents, there are also reports coming from flood informants. Flood informants are volunteers who will report flood events through JAKI. Flood reports from the volunteers have a predetermined reporting format in detail that does not require confirmation in the field.

How Your Report Could Save Jakarta

Any reports of inundation or flooding from you can contribute to protecting Jakarta during the rainy season. So, make sure if you find a puddle or flood in your home or surroundings, don't hesitate to report it through the JAKI application. Later, your report will receive an appropriate and accurate response, thanks to its geotagging feature. In addition, your verified report will also be added to the information on the Pantau Banjir website. By regularly making reports, you also help with information and prevention steps, especially for people who live in a flood-prone area.

Therefore, make sure you are always ready to help Jakarta in dealing with floods or puddles. You can take advantage of the JakLapor feature whenever you find a flood or puddle. Get this feature through the JAKI app, on Google Play Storeor Apps Store
