After launching Jakarta Elderly Card and Jakarta Disability Card programs, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in collaboration with Bank DKI launched a new program called the Jakarta Children's Card or Kartu Anak Jakarta (KAJ). The launch of the KAJ was carried out symbolically on March 26, 2021, by the Governor of Jakarta, Head of Dinas Sosial Jakarta, and Director of Kredit UMK & Usaha Syariah of Bank DKI. KAJ is intended for children from underprivileged families aged 0-6 years as a form of government’s support for their early childhood development.

What Are the Benefits of Kartu Anak Jakarta?

Every child has the right to live a prosperous life and to  be given the proper protection from the environment in which they grow up. This statement is written in Governor Regulation Number 96 of 2019 Regarding Provision of Social Assistance to Fulfill Basic Needs for Children. Being said that, the Regional government then launches the KAJ to help provide social funds for underprivileged children. The recipient of KAJ should use the funds to fulfil the child’s basic needs such as milk, nutritious food, and other supporting needs. KAJ is given in the form of cash amounting to IDR 300.000 per month which can be withdrawn through Bank DKI ATMs. Not only cash, KAJ recipients will also receive other benefits such as free TransJakarta tickets, food discount, and automatically registered as a member of JakGrosir.

Kartu Anak Jakarta Recipient Criteria

A child is entitled to receive KAJ if:

Aged from 0- 6 years;

Has a ID Number and resides / is domiciled in the same region of the ID;

Registered and stipulated in the Integrated Data on the Poor and Underprivileged People; dan

Is not registered as a member of any foster home.

The distribution of KAJ would be stopped if:

The recipient has passed away;

The recipient has moved out of the region;

The recipient is misusing the fund and/ or

No longer meet the criteria for receiving the fund.

Recipients of KAJ are determined after their data is being examined by the staff at the urban village. After that, the data will be verified and validated by the Department of Social Services of Jakarta. A total of 9,531 children are targeted to be recipients of KAJ in 2021 and the distribution will be carried out gradually starting in March 2021. In the first three months of 2021, KAJ recipients will receive the fund amounting to IDR 900.000 for a three-month fund (January-March), after that, the funds distribution will roll out every month (IDR 300.000/month) and it will last for a year. The distribution of funds is expected to be completed in the fourth week of April 2021.

Requirements Needed to Claim KAJ

The distribution of the social fund is carried out by transferring the fund to the account of the child's parent or guardian. According to Dinas Sosial Jakarta, KAJ funds can be claimed by the recipient by completing the following requirements:

The child’s parents/guardians ID Card (photocopy and original)

Family Card (KK) (photocopy and original)

The child's birth certificate (photocopy and original)

All of this process is free of charge. If the recipient was asked for an additional charge, please report via Call Center at 021-4265225 or  WhatsApp at 0821-11420717. We, as a Smartcitizen, can also take part in making the program successful. If you happen to know someone who should receive KAJ but are not yet registered, or if you stumbled across a case such as the misuse of KAJ, please submit your finding to your Urban Village authority and Data and Information Center of the Department of Social Service.
