Efficiency and effectiveness in the use of road space are essential for smooth traffic flow in Jakarta. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government then issued the regulation of Peraturan Gubernur Nomor 88 Tahun 2019. It concerns Pembatasan Lalu Lintas Dengan Sistem Ganjil-Genap (traffic restrictions with the odd-even system). The implementation of the odd-even (ganjil-genap/gage) system is carried done by Dinas Perhubungan (Dishub) Provinsi DKI Jakarta(Jakarta Provincial transportation agency). If you are a motor vehicle driver in Jakarta, you need to pay attention to the rules to ensure a comfortable journey. Read the information below!

Understanding the Odd-Even System

Do you have private transportation in Jakarta? If so, you must understand the odd-even system. The odd-even system restricts motor vehicle traffic based on license plates. This is also one of the efforts of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to resolve traffic congestion problems. Private transportation is the type of motor vehicle included in this regulation. Therefore, your vehicle can only pass according to the provisions. Below are the rules and schedules.

By understanding these rules, we can collectively ensure comfortable travel in Jakarta. Air pollution is also reduced thanks to the decrease in carbon emissions from private vehicles. Instead, we can choose public transportation  available in Jakarta. Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT are efficient and more environmentally friendly alternatives. By switching to these modes of transportation, we can contribute to reducing congestion and creating a cleaner city.

Hopefully, every Jakarta resident will follow these rules. Violations of the odd-even system in Jakarta are regulated in pasal 287 UU Nomor 12 Tahun 2009 tentang Lalu Lintas dan Angkutan Jalan. Violators will be subject to a maximum fine of Rp500.000. To ensure smooth journeys, let’s support the odd-even system in Jakarta!
